MEET AUSTIN-BASED DIRECTOR AMIR FARHANG: OLD SCHOOL HIP-HOP, RARE KICKS AND A DREAM HOUSE IN AUSTIN.

I met up with Caviar director Amir Farhang at a local coffee shop of his choosing, which, to my pleasant surprise as a coffee lover, was Seventh Flag—a cool, modern shop with vintage Texas accents and delicious brew. At one point he mentioned his sneaker collection and of course I insisted we tour/photograph it as well his and his wife Kayla's beautiful home (recently featured by Airbnb's Design blog).

Number two is Jon Marcu. Jon is one of those people who only talks when it counts and what he doesn't give away in words, he makes up for with actions. I mean, just look at the white rope chair seat he wove by hand (scroll down). The full interview is really insightful as Jon is an incredibly talented prop maker from Eagle Rock (fun fact, he has a t-rex from a print shoot with Chris Pratt in his backyard) and has a ton of knowledge about furniture. Hooked up with Perrier to find out the secrets of the best thrifters I know in Los Angeles.

First up is Shiloh. This lady can't stop won't stop killing the game. She maneuvers a dope teal green Bronco around Glendale and owns little-to-none non-thrifted items—from her shoes to her furniture. Lucky for us, she is freely handing out some valuable thrifting lessons over at Perrier's blog. Take note y'all.

Coolest name ever right?

Like a name that is just demanding attention, BUT in the most unassuming way. That's Kimberly, her striking looks are almost at odds with her demeanor, which is whatever is the opposite of pretentious. This girl has both feet on the ground and it is so calming. She is casual marries stability marries adventure (what? but really doe). She is also a straight up doppelganger for Cara Delevingne. She is also a dope photographer/instagrammer with the best captions on earth. Anyway, we did a shoot with her and her best friend Payton Elizabeth Manley (who is a hip-hop dancer is LA, how freaking awesome is that?!). 



A WILDFOX POOLSIDE MORNING

Dude. People looooveee pineapples. But I don't blame them.

I've got a camera and some new lighting equipment. My roommate's got a pineapple, is a model and just got a Wildfox pineapple swim cover up. We have a pool and an hour before we have to be anywhere. Here are the results:

When you want to do a thing but you can't find the opportunity to do that thing, you create that opportunity yourself. 

My friends and I did that. We started a magazine. We created a place where we could share the things we are passionate about. We can make the photographs we want to make. We can tell the stories we need to tell. It is a place where we are slowing down to appreciate what's often taken for granted and stopping to examine what we can no longer ignore.

Our first feature was the talented and raw Oceanside rapper John Givez, who is about to release his latest album 'Soul Rebel.' While, the photoshoot below was an honor for me to do, it doesn't stand alone. Read the story of what it means to be a soul rebel written by RayNeutron for Typical Mag.
